Mask Welding

Mask Welding

Mask welding involves a line-shaped laser beam being directed over a mask. The mask is transparent for the beam along the welding contour and is reflective on the points that are not welded. The procedure is characterized by the virtually unlimited design of the weld contour.

Mask welding is divided into different procedures. Two of these are:

• Standard mask welding

• 3D mask welding

Standard mask welding generally uses components with flat surfaces. Welding seam widths from 0.1 mm can be achieved alongside large sharp angled surfaces.

3D mask welding is used if the surface of the transparent joint partner is a topography (topographic). This procedure can create welding seam widths from 0.5 mm.
